Collection Development Policy Library The University
This policy applies to all staff of the library involved in collection management. the document should be read in conjunction with the fryer library collection development policy and uq espace collection development policy. it excludes material purchased on behalf of hospitals and the rural clinical school. The fryer library builds collections to support scholarship, education and engagement with the university of queensland community, international students and researchers, and the broader public. the collection development policy: fryer library outlines the collecting intentions of the university of queensland’s fryer library. At the university of queensland library, we connect you with the information, people, and resources you need, when you need them. if you’re a uq student or staff member, you’ll have access to one of the largest academic library collections in australia – in fact 24 7 access to our electronic collections and many of our print collections. Collection management at uq library seeks to support the teaching, learning and research needs of the university. the library has a policy to select materials in electronic format, where available. however, we do continue to purchase materials in print, as electronic formats are not well suited to some subject areas and are not appropriate for. The university of queensland art museum has a responsibility to preserve and document the collection and all other items in its care according to museum industry standards and the official policies and procedures of the university as documented in the uq policy and procedures library (ppl) especially under category 8: community and development.
The Library Collection Development Policy
The uq policy handbook is to assist uq staff developing policies and procedures. the handbook is one of a number of tools and resources available to staff at uq designed to encourage the development of policies and procedures that are clear, effective and appropriate. tip sheets give additional guidance on specific topics: policy and procedure. The university of queensland library is integral to learning, discovery and engagement at the university of queensland. we provide access to high quality scholarly information resources, client focused services, and physical and online spaces that support teaching and research at the university. The library prefers ownership over access only agreements with electronic content providers when possible. the library primarily orders new journal and newspaper subscriptions in online format. however, it still maintains some current, print journal subscriptions, as well as a collection of closed, print and microfilm journal and newspaper.
