The collection overviews provide a brief description of the library's collections. the sixty two overviews describe the strengths of individual collections (for example, australian new zealand studies, science and technology) while demonstrating the inter relationships of the collections. these overviews were prepared in 2008. A number of individual libraries post collection development pages informing readers of new acquisitions, collection development policies, etc. one colleague suggested that the library of congress develop a page for posting a desiderata list of items which are missing in inventory or declared lost, back issues not received, or out of print. The collections policy statements govern the library's collection development and acquisitions efforts. they provide the policy framework to support the library's responsibilities to serve the congress as well as the united states government as a whole, the scholarly community, and the general public. the policies provide a plan for developing. After reviewing the current use of the rlg conspectus among several academic libraries in the united states and the collection development policies of national libraries in several foreign countries, and after consultation with several library of congress recommending officers, cdo decided to retain use of these collecting levels in the library. The following is co authored with joe puccio, the library of congress collection development officer. digital collections, and the work related to their acquisition, preservation and access, have become increasingly central to library of congress processes and our mission to serve congress and the nation.
